New technologies bring new opportunities! We jumped into AI-generated art with Midjourney out of curiosity, but we've been more than surprised with what can be done!
Midjourney is an independent research lab that provides an AI-powered system that creates images from user prompts. Their system is currently in beta-testing phase and is open to most people that are interested in working with it. It's not the only one. There are others like DALL-E 2, Craiyon, and more. We went with Midjourney simply because we love it much better than the others!
How does this work? Midjourney allows us to write a "prompt", then it generates 4 images based on what it knows about the topic and art in general from the internet. Then we can create variations based on one of these 4 images. And then again, and again, and again, until we see something we like.
Then we can upscale the image up to two times adding more details.
Finally, when we get something descent, we do a bit of Photoshopping to fix what looks bad without changing too much. Sometimes we combine a few different assets from what AI generated for us if this helps to make the final result better.
Our subscription plan at Midjourney allows us to use all assets for commercial purposes, so we created a new category called AI-GENERATED ART “AI-generated art” in the ART FOR SALE section on our website.
We will be updating it every week, so don't forget to see where our experiments lead us! All art is available for purchase for a relatively low price, which helps us to spend more time testing Midjourney and coming up with new cool ideas.
The resolution of the final design is 1664x1664px, which is more than enough for both digital release and printing in 300dpi. Once sold, it’s removed from our website and the client is free to use it for any purposes.
